Food Safety
The integrity of our customers’ products is our highest priority. Our HACCP based food safety program is designed to provide the safest storage and handling environments and to prevent product loss. Our team can help your company manage customer requirements as well as navigate the uncertainty presented by the Food Safety Modernization Act.
Our Commitment
Columbian employees at every level understand our involvement within the food supply chain and that we have both a moral and an ethical responsibility to maintain the integrity and purity of our customers brand name and their food supplies. With this understanding, the Columbian staff is committed to food safety and continuous improvement through education, training, and support. Through these practices, our goal is to exceed our customer’s expectations and food regulatory requirements by continually improving the SQF system at our facilities. Our staff realizes the importance of maintaining food safety and quality systems. Columbian’s employees are committed to positioning Columbian as a leader in third party food logistics.
Food Safety Team / HACCP Program
Each Columbian Logistics Network facility or campus has a Food Safety Team, responsible for front-line execution of the Food Safety program, which is managed centrally. The Hazard Analysis-Critical Control Points (HACCP) program is managed by dedicated food safety experts. The Food Safety Team acts as the eyes and ears of the customer when interacting with the HACCP Plan.
Independent Audits
Columbian Logistics Network is audited by the AIB, earning a ‘good’ or better rating at its facilities for the past 7 years. The five Categories for Inspection are:
- Operational Methods and Personnel Practices
- Maintenance for Food Safety
- Cleaning Practices
- Integrated Pest Management
- Adequacy of Prerequisite Programs and Food Safety Programs
Sanitation / Pest Control
All food grade facilities have weekly integrated pest management services contracted through Ecolab. These services can be tailored to meet clients’ specific needs.
Responsive
With food allergies, food sensitivities, and other dietary needs in mind, Columbian has implemented numerous customized programs and procedures. These include collective labeling practices, cleaning schedules, and continuous improvement software. Our facilities are also USDA organic certified to better accommodate our customers’ organic requirements.
