Director of Customer Care at the 2016 Food Safety Consortium in Schaumburg, Illinois in early December. Blair presented “Walls to Wheels: Extending SQF Principals with a Certified Clean Trailer Process” and had a very interactive group. The presentation covered how a Certified Clean Trailer Process and other simple protocols can help extend food safety programs outside the four walls of a facility and across diverse carrier networks. Attendees learned how to design and implement a program with the necessary processes around a transportation network.
The presentation raised many questions with attendees about the basics of food logistics in the supply chain. With the implementation of the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA), more and more food safety professionals are finding themselves learning simple logistics concepts such as the processes and systems involved in warehousing and transportation. Attendees were very inquisitive about the general foundation of food logistics, which led Columbian to offer a follow up presentation with the group. Food Safety Tech magazine will be hosting another conference in June 2017 called Food Safety and Supply Chain Conference, where Columbian will be present to continue the conversation.
The 4th Annual Food Safety Consortium conference is a summit of Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) industry experts and government officials. The agenda is comprised of panel discussions, individual presentations, “Ask The Experts” discussion groups, workshops and training programs running concurrently, coupled with overarching plenary sessions paired with a table-top exhibition. This is an event focused on food safety education and networking providing attendees best practices and new technology solutions to today’s food safety challenges.
