Columbian Logistics Network’s Grand Rapids Distribution Center has been awarded the prestigious Michigan Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP) award for its exemplary safety and health management system. In 2013, Columbian Logistics Grand Rapids Distribution Center had a Total Case Incident Rate (TCIR) and a Days Away from Work and Restricted/Transfer Cases (DART) rate below the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) averages for their industry. Their TCIR was 0.0 compared to the BLS rate of 5.6 for this type of industry.”Safety is at the core of our company values. This recognition highlights that focus and the extent to which we have built a culture of safety into all of our processes and procedures.” Said Columbian CEO John Zevalkink.As an incentive to program participation, SHARP worksites earn an exemption from ‘programmed’ MIOSHA inspections on a yearly basis. Columbian will celebrate the SHARP award with a presentation ceremony at its Grand Rapids DC on November 19th at 11am.
