All Grand Rapids Facilities Oregon Tith Certified Organic (OTCO)
For Immediate Release – Columbian Logistics Network
Grand Rapids, Michigan –
Columbian Logistics Network has earned Oregon Tilth Certified Organic (OTCO) designation for all of its Grand Rapids warehousing facilities to support customers producing and distributing USDA Certified Organic products. Oregon Tilth is a nonprofit research and education organization and USDA NOP (National Organic Program) accredited certifier. The OTCO system ensures strict production standards to protect producers and buyers of organic products.
“OTCO is incredibly important to customers producing organic products. If one link in their supply chain is non-compliant, they cannot achieve USDA Organic Certification. Our certification is just a means of supporting their business success,” says Jim Gadziemski, General Manager of Warehousing for Columbian Logistics.
After submitting an application that also doubles as an Organic Handling Plan, a trained organic inspector from Oregon Tilth will review all aspects of the plan and stage an onsite inspection of the physical facilities. Basic requirements of OTCO include record keeping, pest management, contamination & co-mingling avoidance, and product composition.
“I’m proud to say that we passed our inspection with no compliance issues, which is a reflection of how hard our employees work to go above and beyond the basic requirements.” Says Jon Swart, Food Safety manager at Columbian Logistics.
