Columbian Logistics Network, a logistics provider based in Grand Rapids, Michigan, is pleased to announce that it’s Kentwood Distribution Center has received a renewal of it’s Michigan Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (MSHARP) certification from the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA).
MIOSHA established the MSHARP Award to acknowledge employers with outstanding workplace safety and health programs that far surpass their counterparts. The MIOSHA program is part of the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA). MSHARP emphasizes prevention over reaction to workplace accidents, and the program provides incentives for participating companies. The five required elements of the MSHARP program include management commitment and planning, employee involvement, safety and health training, worksite analysis, and hazard prevention and control.
“Warehousing and transportation are very physical occupations, and the industry traditionally has a high incidence rate. Columbian Logistics is dedicated to providing a safe work environment for our employees and partners. A safe environment lets people focus on their job, and helps us provide better service to our customers.” Said Bob Christian, Executive Vice President of Operations.
